Guys And Their Ties

September 22, 2008

Do you cower in fear at the thought of wearing a bowtie on your wedding day?  Over the years I’ve observed countless guys attempt to tie a bowtie.  There seems to be one person in each group (usually a Grandfather) that actually knows how to accomplish such a task.  And thank goodness for them!  While I do have a diagram in my emergency kit that shows how to tie a bowtie, a video is always better.

My advice would be to practice a few times before the big day in front of a mirror, because you just never know what can come up on the wedding day that can foil your tie tying capabilities.

Tantalizing Hors D’oeuvres

September 15, 2008

If you are like me, you are totally amazed by the food you eat at events.  I see those silver trays spinning around the room and peek to see what is on each one.  It seems like I snatch up those tasty treats made with puff pastry.  They look fabulous.  They taste fabulous.

I recently found a resource I want to share with you on how you can make the some of the same amazing food as those talented caterers out there and dazzle your dinner party guests.

Pepperidge Farm, one of the makers of frozen puff pastry dough has some marvelous recipes on their website.  Check it out!  They have over 100 recipes to choose from.  Many of them can be made ahead to make entertaining look effortless.

Here is another tip.  When choosing Hors D’oeuvres, make sure you select a collection that includes both warm and cold appetizers with at least one vegetarian choice.

Enjoy!

Why would anyone say that??!!

September 2, 2008

Have you ever wondered how to handle all of the strange comments that come your way when it comes to getting married?  I’ve had many conversations with brides over the years on this subject and while it is easy to think that you are the only one out there with crazy family and friends…you are not alone.

Miles Stiverson wrote a perfect article on just how to deal with such people entitled “Bad Wedding Etiquette Comebacks”.   After reading this article, you are armed against many of the most common negative comments that can possibly come your way.

Best wishes!
